Pondering Gifting

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

Well, I feel safe posting this (cause I think she has already left the house and won’t have time to read this until after she actually gets the gift). I got the girlie a new computer. I hope she likes it. Her old one is… well… it is just painful. With her getting internet and whatnot, I thought she could really use a new computer to play with. I’m sure she’ll like it.

But something bothers me. I was picking up the Dell labeled boxes from the front desk and someone asked “You get a new computer?”

My response was a whimsical “Naw, finally broke down and got the girlfriend a new computer.”

To my dismay, the response was a sarcastic “How romantic.”

Then it hit me, would she have preferred something else? I mean, she has told me she wants jewelry, but honestly, that much money on jewelry? Short of a particular item, why would anyone spend that much money on something that one would wear occassionally as opposed to something that would get used daily. It makes no sense.

To make matters worse, I have been teasing her with a “surprise” for the last week or so. I have been taunting her, teasing her and otherwise torturing her with the knowledge that something was coming for her but she couldn’t know what it is. It has been killing her (which I have really enjoyed). But it also forces her to make guesses/assumptions on what it might be. What if she was expecting something like jewelry? Will she be disappointed by a new computer?

Anyways, here’s to hoping she likes it.

The Question

If you got 36 prostitutes and 30 cents in your pocket, what you got?
Proof that hos come a dime a dozen.

That line kills me.

Penis Awards

These Phallic Logo Awards are hilarious, even if a bit dirty. The best is the login button. The comment with it is the funniest thing I have read all day.

Your Force is Weak (like the Ukraine)

The Star Wars flavored 20 Questions site Sith Sense. It’s actually pretty impressive. It got “stress ball” in 17 questions and “speakers” in 14 questions. However, it did not get “plastic fruit”. Yes, the force is strong with this one. The best thing about it is some of the comments Vader gives.

Speaking of SW, the girlie and I went to go see SW3 last night. We both really enjoyed it. I didn’t care much for SW1, and 2 was… painful at times, but I really, really enjoyed SW3. There are lots of reviews out there that are much more respected than mine, but suffice to say, it is one of the most action packed movies I have ever seen. It tied up the story well and they kept the love scenes, which always seem painfully strained in these prequels, to a minimum. We went to see it at Galaxy Theatre (which is the only digital DLP projector theatre in town). The picture was crisp and clean. The sound was… well… loud. I know I run the risk of sounding old, but it was loud. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it. It just took a few minutes to adjust to it. Oh, and they showed a trailer for Fantastic 4. Man, I am jazzed about that movie. I was a kid at a candy store last night, and I’m not really that much of a Star Wars fan nor did I ever collect comic books. I don’t really know what excited me so much about the movie experience last night, but none-the-less, I’m glad I pee’d before the movie.

Atempt at not being an Asshole

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

I am trying to avoid the topics I am discussing and reading about at work, cause honestly, there are a lot more educated people discussing these things than me. I would just be another asshole with a voice on the web if i went into a diatribe about the Feds shutting down BitTorrent clients. For the purpose of not confusing people I will link the article talking about it. But I’ll save the online banter for someone that knows what the hell they are talking about.
