Europe, Thy Name Is Cowardice
I don’t normally touch politically charged stuff. Mostly because I consider myself relatively ignorant on the subjects therefore I don’t have the ammunition to back up what I argue about. However, occassionally something moves me enough that I feel it worthy of sharing.
While reading one of my message boards, I came across a link to an article that was so well written, so succinct and scathing that it needed to be shared. The article lambasts Europe’s leaders for basically being cowards. For being so complacent in their lifestyle that they aren’t willing to risk anything to stand up for what they feel is right.
This is all pretty standard fair down here in Texas. We make fun of the Euros, especially the French for being… well… less than courageous. However, this article was written by a very prominent German businessman. The CEO of Axel Springer (a large publishing company in Germany), Mathias Döpfner. Oof, now that’s a twist. A European media head calling the goverment cowards. Not only that, but praising American heads of state for having the resolution to stand up for what they feel is right. Even in the face of worldwide criticism. That’s a nice set he’s got, I’ll wager.
