Stealing Ideas

Tuesday, May 18th, 2004

I took an idea from Kevin Barnett and am making some “historical posts” as I get a chance.

My hosting provider (Bytestacker) is unfortunately closing his doors. Sad to see him go; has been a fantastic service. So I’m on the lookout for a new hosting provider.

Softball

So, yesterday was our first softball game. We did pretty well considering most of us had never played in a league before, several never having touched a soft or base ball or bat before a month ago. However, the score was a bit unnecessary. We ended up playing a sandbagging team that was just way better hitters than we were. These guys didn’t belong in the Novice league and they knew it. They were excellent hitters and the final score was 21-9. Our team played well, we just weren’t in the same league as these guys (well, we shouldn’t have been). To add insult to injury, they were up by almost 10 runs with 5 minutes left in the game, and they are taking walks, as the home team. Those guys really got off on beating the crap out of people in a novice league. And that got under my skin.

I was, however, very disappointed with my performance. I mean, didn’t drop any balls or anthing, but I went 1 for 3, in slow pitch softball. That’s pretty bad. I was so nervous. I was trembling the entire game I was so nervous. It was almost like an anxiety attack. I have never had an issue with this, but I was flat out scared of screwing up. Which, of course, in turn led to me screwing up.

That and I was so winded. I didn’t realize till I sat down before my last at bat, I hadn’t sat down all game. I was soaking wet with sweat. So I gotta work on my stamina.

I made a page of our schedule, I will try to keep it updated.

master of the obvious

Well, as most have noticed, the list of authors has grown increasingly short. I am pretty much the only contributor of blogs. However, I learned a while ago, the comments here are better than the blogs. So keep em comin, and I’ll try to keep writing blogs.
